Statue of Limitation in Libya? 

According to Article 361 of the Libyan Civil Code, general prescription (Statute of Limitation) is fifteen (15) years “…with the exception of those cases for which a special provision is contained in the law.” 
 
Exceptions listed under Libyan Law, to name a few, are as follows: 
 
For commercial contracts the prescription/limitations' period is considered ten (10) years. (Article 505 of the Libyan Commercial Code) 
Actions and claims arising out of insurance contracts shall be barred by limitation after the expiration of three (3) years from the date of the occurrence which gave rise to such action. (Article 752(a)  of the Libyan Civil Code) 
Labour Law claims are time barred for a period of one (1) year (Article 365 of the Libyan Civil Code) 
 
Libya civil litigation statute of limitations is a law that time limits a plaintiff’s right to bring a claim against a defendant. The statute of limitations in Libya is 15 years. However, if an action has been taken within this time then the statute of limitations time will be extended to account for this. Once the specified time period elapses then no action can be taken through the legal processes unless the plaintiff is able to prove exceptional circumstances. 

How EU (European Union) laws effect debt collection in Libya? 

EU laws have no effect for contracts that are governed by the Libyan Law.
